Audison SR 1.500 Mono Class D Amplifier — 500W @ 4Ω, 800W @ 2Ω, 1000W @ 1Ω with Built-In Crossover
The Audison SR 1.500 is a 1Ω-stable mono Class D amplifier with a complete built-in filter section, delivering 500W @ 4Ω, 800W @ 2Ω and 1000W @ 1Ω RMS (14.4 VDC). It is the latest version of Audison's SR 1.500 line, which dates back to 1988, rebuilt with ADT (Audison D-Class Technology) in a compact extruded-aluminium chassis with rounded corners. Built-in USS technology and Speaker-In inputs make it easy to connect behind a factory head unit.
Key Features
- Mono output: 500W @ 4Ω / 800W @ 2Ω / 1000W @ 1Ω
- 1Ω-stable output stage for flexible subwoofer wiring
- Variable 24 dB/octave low-pass filter and a switchable 25 Hz subsonic filter (24 dB/octave)
- Variable bass boost (0–12 dB at 50 Hz) and 0–180° phase control
- Built-in USS (Universal Speakers Simulator) for head units with speaker load detection
- Speaker-In inputs that recreate a pre-out signal from amplified OEM outputs, plus ART automatic turn-on/off
Power and Technical Highlights
Bandwidth is 10 Hz – 500 Hz (-3 dB), stage distortion is 0.1% and the signal-to-noise ratio is 100 dBA. Supply is 11–15 VDC with 2 x 35A fuses, and maximum current draw is around 40 A at 14.4 VDC (2Ω, max musical power). Cooling is by fanless convection through heatsinks on the short sides. When the system includes an Audison bit processor, the filter section can be bypassed entirely.
Ideal For / System Fit
- Subwoofer installs from 4Ω down to 1Ω
- Factory-radio systems where the head unit monitors the speaker load
- Compact installs where a high-power mono amplifier has to fit a narrow space
Designed for subwoofers (10 Hz – 500 Hz bandwidth); not for midrange or tweeter duty, and it has no DSP or digital input.
Installation Note
The chassis measures 264 x 155 x 47.5 mm (10.39 x 6.10 x 1.87 in). The optional VCR-S2 adds a dashboard subwoofer level control from –20 dB to +6 dB. Use heavy-gauge power and ground wiring and correct fusing; professional installation is recommended.
What's Included
1 x Audison SR 1.500 mono amplifier (wiring and hardware are not included with the amplifier; confirm other supplied items with your supplier)
Precautions
- Power ratings are measured at 14.4 VDC; real output depends on the vehicle's electrical system
- Match the subwoofer's impedance to the rated loads (4Ω, 2Ω or 1Ω) and wire it correctly
- Professional installation with proper fusing, grounding and wiring is strongly recommended
- Set the gain, bass boost and subsonic filter carefully to protect the subwoofer

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Audison SR 1.500 used for?
It powers a subwoofer in a car audio system, from a factory or aftermarket source.
How much power does it deliver?
500W @ 4Ω, 800W @ 2Ω and 1000W @ 1Ω RMS (14.4 VDC).
Is it 1Ω stable?
Yes. It is a 1Ω-stable mono amplifier.
What filters does it have?
A variable low-pass filter, a switchable 25 Hz subsonic filter, 0–12 dB bass boost at 50 Hz and 0–180° phase control.
Can I connect it to a factory head unit?
Yes. Built-in USS and Speaker-In inputs let it connect behind OEM head units, including ones with speaker load detection.
Does it turn on automatically?
Yes. ART switches it on and off with the head unit when Speaker-In inputs are used.
Can I add a dashboard volume control?
Yes, with the optional VCR-S2 (–20 dB to +6 dB).
Does it have a DSP?
No. It uses analog filters; with an Audison bit processor, the filter section can be bypassed.
